George III
George III

George III (1738-1820), King of Great Britain and Ireland, and King of Hanover, acceded to the throne in 1760. In 1807 he erected and endowed the Regius Chair of Natural History at the University, appointing Lockhart Muirhead to the chair and to the post of Keeper of the Hunterian Museum.
