Biography of Mary Gibb Dunlop

Mary Gibb Dunlop (1883-1958) of Moorlands in Helensburgh bequeathed the residue of her estate to the University to be used for the "encouragement and advancement of research in Engineering, whether mechanical or electrical having especially in view improvements in the methods of transport by land, sea or air."

Mary Gibb Dunlop died in Gibraltar on 24th March 1958 and the final balance of her bequest was transferred an reported to the University Court in 1960. The bequest continues to support the James Watt School of Engineering to this day.
