John Monteith Prize

List of Awards

The John Monteith Prize was founded as a bursary in 1884 by Mrs Helen Monteith of Glasgow in memory of her husband. It is awarded to the medical student gaining the highest marks in the professional examinations in the subjects of Anatomy and Physiology in each alternate year. The founder directed that it should be represented to the bursars that they should feel themselves in honour bound after graduation to render as much professional assistance to the poor as may lie in their power.
