Agnes Smith Memorial Medal and Herbert Smith Memorial Prize
Description
The Agnes Smith Memorial Medal was founded in 1938 by Herbert Smith, Professor of German from 1919 to 1951, in memory of his wife. It is awarded annually by the Senate on the nomination of the Professor of German to the most distinguished student in the Honours class.
The Herbert Smith Memorial Prize was founded in 1954 by public subscription in memory of the Professor. It is awarded in any particular year to the holder of the Agnes Smith Memorial Medal for that year.
