William Archibald Lindsay

William Archibald Lindsay was born on 15th May 1878 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire. William was the only son of six children of Archibald MacLaren Lindsay, a writer (lawyer), and his mother Margaret Oliphant Lindsay (nee Morrison), of 1 Park Gate, Glasgow, Lanarkshire.
On leaving School he undertook his Arts course at Glasgow University, taking Natural Philosophy and Senior Latin classes between 1894 and 1897. William went on to qualify as a Law Agent.
On the outbreak of war he at once volunteered for service, and served as a Private with the 9th Bn. (Glasgow HIghlanders) Highland Light Infantry.
Private William Archibald Lindsay was wounded on the 1st February 1915, and died of his wounds tweo days later, on the 3rd February 1915, at the age of thirty-seven. He is buried in the Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, Boulogne, France.
