Charles Ford Dickson
Charles Ford Dickson was born on 9th July 1894 in the George Hotel, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. Charles was the son of William Dickson, hotelkeeper (George Hotel), and his mother Jemima Jane Dickson (nee Fairlie) (1856-1936), who had married on 6th June 1893 in Kilmarnock.
Charles did not study at Glasgow University, however, he was a member of the University's Officer’s Training Corps (OTC) in 1913-14. Charles was employed with Messrs Church & Co., Stockbrokers, West George Street, Glasgow, Lanarkshire.
Charles served as a Private with the 9th Bn. (Glasgow HIghlanders) Highland Light Infantry, and was killed in action on the 14th February 1915, aged 20. Private Charles Ford Dickson is buried in the Gorre British and Indian Cemetery, Beuvry, France.
