Allan Mills Fenwick


Allan Mills Fenwick was born on the 16th June 1893, in Blackfriars, Glasgow, Lanarkshire. He was the son of James Fenwick, a cashier, and Ann Robb Fenwick, nee Mills. Allan worked hard in order to get in to University of Glasgow, being admitted after resitting his preliminary exam. Allan studied Latin, Logic, Mathematics, English and Political Economy. Allan graduated MA from the University of Glasgow on the 22nd June 1914, aged 21.

Shortly after graduating, Allan enlisted for service and served with the 5th Bn. of the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles). He was killed in action on 9th December 1914, shortly before his unit took part in a Christmas truce of 1914. He is buried in the Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery in Fleurbaix, in the Pas de Calais region of France.
