Alexander Garden

Biography of Alexander Garden

Alexander Garden graduated from the University MA in 1779, and MD in 1785. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the botanist Dr Alexander Garden.

Garden joined the Revolutionary Army of South Carolina in 1780, and was at one time aide-de-camp to General Nathanael Greene, a major general of the Continental Army. In February 1782, he served as a Lieutenant in 'Lee's Legion', a military unit within the Continental Army, and later published Anecdotes of the Revolutionary War (1822).
