Biography of George Erving
George Erving graduated MA from University of Glasgow in 1762. He was born in Boston, New England, around 1738.
After graduating from Harvard College in 1757, Erving fled to Halifax, Canada due to the Revolutionary War, and from there to England.
His son from his first marriage was George William Erving (1769-1850), the prominent American diplomat. George was later named in the Conspiracy Act of 1779, along with his brother-in-law Sir Pepperell, which resulted in the confiscation of his home and denied his citizenship of Massachusetts. Erving died in England in 1806.
