Biography of Howard Chester Bowman

Howard Chester Bowman was born in the Free City of Danzig, modern day GdaƄsk, in Poland. His father, Howard Arthur Bowman, worked in the American Foreign Service and served as US Consul and Vice Consul in cities around the world, including in Poland.

Bowman enrolled at the University in 1940 to study for an MA, but only completed one year. He attended classes in Political Economy, Spanish and English Literature, and was awarded two prizes for excellence in his studies; a First-Class Certificate in English and the Class Prize for Political Economy.
