Biography of Abraham Blum
Abraham Blum graduated BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University in 1942. He was born in Skawina, Poland, son of Joseph, a merchant.
Blum was 18 when he matriculated at the University in 1938, where he took courses in Mathematics, Natural Philosophy, Engineering Drawing, Inorganic Chemistry, Applied Mechanics, Heat Engines, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Design, among others. He was recognised for his various academic achievements during his time at the University, including being awarded the General Engineering (with Laboratory) prize in 1940; a Second Class Certificate in Applied Physics in 1941; and several class prizes in Electrical Engineering, Heat Engines (Lectures and Laboratory), Applied Mechanics Mechanical Engineering Design, and Electrical Engineering Design.
After graduating in 1942, Blum worked as a mechanical engineer in Middlesbrough, UK.
