Biography of John Kennedy
John Kennedy was born on 1st July 1887, the eldest son of Colin Kennedy a cabinet maker. Before starting his university studies in 1905, John took preliminary examinations in English, Maths, Latin and French. In his first year he continued with Maths and also took History. He took a variety of subjects: Latin, Logic, Moral Philosophy, Natural Philosophy and English. John graduated with an ordinary MA on 12th November 1908.
After his studies John went on to become a teacher at Govan High School and was described as "a skillful and enthusiastic teacher". During the First World War John was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Cameronians and was sadly killed in 1917, leaving behind a widow.
