Janet Green

Biography of Janet Green

Janet Green graduated MA from the University in 1903. She was born at Cape Town, South Africa, daughter of Robert, a builder and architect.

Green enrolled at the University in 1900 to study an Arts degree. Over a period of four years, Green took classes in Mathematics, Latin, English, and French and German Language and Literature, which she studied to honours, graduating on 5 November 1903. Green was awarded prizes for both the French and German Languages and Literature Honours classes in 1902. In 1905 and 1906, Green took further classes in Moral Philosophy and British History and worked a teacher in Glasgow.

On 8 September 1914 in Glasgow, Green married Scottish poet and clergyman Andrew John Young, then a Minister of the Presbyterian Church of England in Howe, Suffolk.
