Alice Green graduated MA from the University of Glasgow on 12 November 1908.

She was born in Cape Town, South Africa, daughter of Robert, a builder.

Green enrolled at the University in 1904, aged 16. During her four years of study, she attended classes in Latin, Logic, Mathematics, and French and German both to Honours. In 1905, Green was awarded a first class certificate in German Language and Literature, and in 1906 a prize for French Language and Literature.

On 22 August 1911 Green married Leonard James Russell in Glasgow. He was a University Assistant at that time, who became Professor of Philosophy at the University of Birmingham. Alice Russell died in Birmingham on 22 April 1975.
