Henry Frazer was a student of medicine at the University of Glasgow. He first enrolled for a year to study medicine at the age of 17 in 1862. After receiving his medical qualifications from the various Irish Colleges in 1868 and 1870, he was awarded his MD by the University of Glasgow in 1881, for his thesis ‘The Pyrexial State’.

Not much is known about his early life, but his student records note that his father was Thomas Frazer, a Merchant from County Down, Ireland.

After his studies Henry Frazer was a surgeon on the SS Helvetia, before being employed in various different posts in Armagh, including: an assistant surgeon in the County Infirmary; a medical attendant to the Macan Asylum for the Blind; a consulting medical officer of health; a medical officer to the union workhouse; and a physician to Shiels Institution.

Henry Frazer died on the 10th May 1891 aged 43.
