Biography of William Glendinning
William Glendinning, Sub-Dean of Dunblane and Canon of Aberdeen, was Rector of the University from 1471 to 1473 and 1475 to 1476. In 1472 he complained that the privileges of officials of the University, granted in 1453 by James II to exempt them from duties and services,
were under attack from "certain consuls of... the King". A deputation was sent to parliament to lobby for the renewal of these privileges, which was granted by James III in December that year.
