William Devine's Medals and Badges
Aircraftman William (known as Billy) John Devine of the RAFVR was born in Glasgow and studied at the University for an Arts degree from 1938 to 1940. He left his studies to enlist in the RAF and served with 17 Balloon Centre, which maintained the system of barrage balloons created to protect Kingston-upon-Hull and the River Humber from air raids. He died on active service on 10 May 1941.
