Duais na Gàidhlig

List of Awards

Description

The Duais na Gàidhlig was established in 2010 as part of the University wide Gaelic initiative to promote Gaelic language and culture to staff and students. The funding for Duais na Gàidhlig comes from three main funding bodies who at present, fund the whole initiative and they are Bòrd na Gàidhlig, the Scottish Government and the Scottish Funding Council.

The prize is awarded annually to any undergraduate or postgraduate student (or students) who have made significant progress in learning Gaelic or developing their spoken Gaelic skills, made a notable effort to attend and be involved with Gaelic activities organised by the Ossianic Society and the Gaelic Language Officer, and contributed to the creation of a fully bi-lingual environment within the Department of Celtic and Gaelic and in the University more generally.
